If required, wear your oxygen as prescribed by your healthcare professional.
Sit comfortably with your back supported.
Place one hand on your stomach.
Gently inhale in through your nose and out through your mouth, making sure your breaths are slow and controlled.
As you breathe in your stomach should rise under your hand.
As you breathe out your stomach should fall.
Take 3 deep breaths, feeling your ribs gently move out as you breathe in.
If you feel comfortable hold your breath for 3-5 seconds on the breath in.
Then breathe out through your mouth.
Return to your relaxed breathing technique and repeat the above cycle until you feel the secretions moving closer to your mouth.
Perform a huff by taking in a deep breath through your nose and breathing out quickly with an open mouth, like steaming up a mirror.
When you feel the secretions are ready to clear at the back of the throat, cough to clear.
Try to avoid coughing until is absolutely necessary.
