When you feel breathless, some people find that breathing in through the nose and out through narrowed lips helps.
You may already be doing this without realising.
Pursed-lips breathing helps to keep your airways open.
This allows the air to leave your lungs more easily.
It creates more room for your next breath in.
Breathe out through pursed lips during the hardest part of an exercise or during a daily activity that you know brings on your breathlessness for example whilst walking.
Breathe in as you relax and return to starting position.
By doing this you should keep control of your breathing during activities and exercise.
