Prone lying - Rhythmic breathing

Prone lying - Rhythmic breathing

Lie on your stomach using pillows under your head as is comfortable.
You might also wish to place a pillow under your waist.
Breathe in and out rhythmically in this position.

This is a position that can be used to help patients who are struggling with breathlessness or are recovering from an illness such as COVID-19, pneumonia or any acute respiratory illness.
The reason that this maybe recommended is to:
- Improve how much oxygen gets to your lungs and help breathlessness
- Open-up any deflated parts of lung which air may not be getting to very well due to illness
- Help to move any trapped secretions at the bottom of your lungs.

Required equipment: Adjustable plinth/bed, Pillow
