Sit up straight with your affected leg bent and your knee dropped out to the side.
Place your other leg wherever feels most comfortable and stable.
Take some cream on your fingertips and spread it with broad strokes across the inside of your calf muscle.
After a couple of minutes when the tissues are warmed, grasp your shin and place your thumbs on the inside of your calf muscle.
Move your hands up and down, pressing into your muscle with your thumb to feel for tender spots.
If you feel a tight tender spot, hold the pressure on this area until you feel it release underneath your thumbs.
